A series of iPhones cannot experience Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 17. So what iPhone is mine that doesn’t get the iOS 17 update?

It is known that Apple officially introduced iOS 17 at the 2023 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Although it did not directly announce which iPhones would not get iOS 17, Apple has posted a list of iPhones that will receive the iOS 17 update on its official website.

iOS 17 Release Schedule

The first iOS 17 beta release schedule will be available for Developer Preview today, Tuesday 6 June 2023. Meanwhile, the public beta release schedule will be released in July.

The final version of the software update will be released in September along with the launch of the iPhone 15.

Latest iOS 17 Features

Here are some of the newest features that will be released in iOS 17.

Phone App

iOS 17 provides some of the latest features in the phone app. The first feature is the Contact Poster feature which can be personalized to express yourself.

In this feature, users can personalize each contact with photos, emojis, typography, and attractive font colors.

Apart from that, iOS 17 also brings the Live Voicemail feature. This feature allows users to see real-time transcriptions when someone leaves a voice message and answer when the caller leaves a message.

Calls identified as spam by the operator will not appear as Live Voicemail, and will instead be immediately rejected.

FaceTime

FaceTime now supports audio and video messages, so when users call someone who is unavailable, they can leave a message to read or view later.

iMessages

In iOS 17, the iMessage app now features search, an arrow to jump to the first unread message, swipe to reply, location sharing, and new stickers.

Additionally, iMessages also provides a transcription feature for audio messages and Check In that lets contacts let you know they have arrived safely home.

Journal

Journal is a new app included in iOS 17. The app allows users to add pictures and jot down thoughts throughout the day

The app will use machine learning to make personalized suggestions for moments throughout the day, including people to talk to and music to listen to.

Apple ensures this application is based on privacy, so the Journal application can be locked so that other people cannot peek at the things contained in it.

Namedrop

Namedrop is a feature that allows users to share contact information or AirPlay by placing the user’s iPhone next to another iPhone.

StandBy

iOS 17 also introduces the StandBy feature. StandBy is a feature that can provide users with the experience of viewing information at a glance in full screen remotely.

StandBy is very suitable for use when the iPhone is placed on a table. This feature can also be personalized to display various beautiful clock styles, favorite photos, or widgets including Smart Stacks.

Other Features

Another feature that can be experienced when using the iOS 17 system is a smart keyboard with better automatic correction. The health app will offer mental health features that can log daily moods and emotions.

The maps application will add an offline map feature, so users can download maps of certain areas offline. AirTag can be shared with five people at once.

Apple Music also introduced collaborative playlists that make it easier for users to listen to music with friends. Siri can be activated simply by saying ‘Siri’. Once activated, users can issue multiple commands in sequence without reactivating the assistant.
