Jakarta (ANTARA) – Apple is once again facing a lawsuit in court, this time the lawsuit comes from 1,500 UK-based application developers with a lawsuit value of 1 billion US dollars.
In fact, the US-based company had tried to thwart the legal effort but the court decided that the lawsuit could be filed.
In the GSM Arena report, on Friday (12/4) local time, it was stated that if Apple’s efforts were rejected, the lawsuit from the developers would continue and would begin to enter the trial stage, which will most likely only begin in 2025.

The lawsuit explains that Apple charges developers unfair commission fees of up to 30% percent for purchases of apps and other content.
The plaintiffs say Apple abused its dominant position in the market for the distribution of apps on the iPhone and other Apple devices and therefore seek damages.
Interestingly, Apple’s lawyers argued at a hearing in January 2024 that developers cannot make claims in the UK unless they are charged over purchases made through the UK App Store.
The judge disagreed with Apple’s attorney’s statement and said “Apple’s charging of excessive commissions to UK-based app developers in connection with trade transacted on non-UK storefronts is tantamount to conduct applied in the UK”.
This lawsuit is actually not the first time Apple has faced this. Similar conditions were also recently experienced by the technology giant company in the European Union.
The company is now forced to allow alternative app stores as well as allowing developers to charge users outside the App Store if they wish.
