New App To Let Au Students Have E-books, E-journals On Gadgets | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Anna University on Monday launched a new app ‘Knimbus Mobile Library’ to provide remote access to e-books, e-journals to students studying in its four campuses including College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG). Through this app, the Knimbus Mobile Library, students can search for books and save the relevant portions on their gadgets during their free time.
“Students can take notes, highlight the lines and save them for future use. We can also know which e-books students are using more and which articles they refer to. It would be helpful in purchasing e-books and e-journals in the coming years as well,” said D Arivudainambidirector, university library, Anna University.
He further said the university would also stock up on titles searched most by students in the app.
The university library has subscribed to around 6000 e-books and 32,000 e-journals. The university will provide an individual login ID to all students to access the collection.
“As of now students have to visit the library to access e-books and e-journals. This app will help students access e-books and e-journals from anywhere and anytime. They can use all their free time well,” said R Velrajvice-chancellor of Anna University.
Around 10,000 students are studying in four campuses — College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chromepet, Alagappa College of Technology (AC Tech) and School of Architecture and Planning campuses.
The university library and IEEE India on Monday organized the author workshop in which more than 300 students, research scholars and faculty members took part. Speaking at the workshop, the vice-chancellor R Velraj asked research scholars to track global research groups, broaden the focus to interdisciplinary areas and identify emerging journals.
